Berylshope is an organization, founded on six ideals:
- That children are our future
- That children; irrespective of their race, culture, religion or who their parents are
(or are not) have a right to the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing and education;
a right to be heard, right to experience love and a right to express themsleves.
- That there is life after death for orphans and that they should be able to stand tall,
and achieve their tallest dreams even after the death of their parents;that the death
of our parents need not be our end, but in fact our independent beginning.
- That Society is dynamic and diverse and all the various players must be able to
compromise and accept different view points and perceptions and see them as only
development-oriented and nothing else.
- That multiculturalism and migration are rich and need to be celebrated and aided at
whatever cost, irrespective of west or east, south or north.
- That every single human being have a right to be treated with dignity and respect,
regardless of their race, sex, religion cultural or ethnic orientations and that it is only
we who can define and rule our destinies and that time is ripe for all to arise and take
responsibility for their actions and create a better tommorrow for the future.
Based on the above ideals, we set to provide orphaned children in Kenya (and especially AIDS orphans) with not only a home where they will experience love and care in their purest forms but provide them with a forum where they can freely express their fears, pain, joys and achievements.
This organization has every intention of being the stepping stone for these orphans to help them reach their tallest dreams, inspire them to love and believe in themselves and most of all give them the strength and insight to move on and be their greatest in the absence of their parents.
As a starting point I the founder have donated my parents' (now deceased) former estate in Siaya town Kenya to be developed and used for the sole purpose of providing these children with not only a shelter, but a place to call home. The organisation hopes to develop this property in the near future not only to accomodate more children but to also incorporate a fully-developed center for the home, comprising of a school, health center, recreational center etc.
This home is going to be established, managed and run in memory of my dear parents Goretty and John and my elder brother Dancan, a.k.a. Daddy, all whose deaths have caused unhealable wounds in my heart and soul, but also whose lives taught me the greatest ideals in life. My first teachers and experience of love, care and pride. Upon whose ideals I now live my life and hope to touch and change thousands of others.
This is therefore, not by any means just any children's home but my dream to not only to save masses of children from poverty, hunger, despair, going through the same pains that I did, but to also give them the strength that I now have (if not more), to enable them be their bests. To inspire them to never stop believeing, to always reach for the stars and most importantly to love themselves more than life.
Seocndly, the immigrants' situation as I have experienced in Sweden of lost dignities, crushed dreams, second-class treatments, self-unconsciousness; coupled with rigidness within the community have in the short-term inflicted serious wounds in my already vulnerable heart and in the long term given me the strength and the belief to fight for what is rightfully mean. To walk with my head high and to love me and my circumstances. My sincere intention is to be able to share this new discoveries with all African immigrants in Sweden and in the world over but also with all the native residents of sweden and the res of the world. To be able to share the truth that it is indeed sinful to take away someone's diginity and dreams and that it is abhorable to
treat anyone one, irrespective of their backgrounds or nature as second.
This organization have therefore planned several forms and events which will be held both bi-monthly and annually with the hope of uplifting great minds and celebrate independence and self-realization not just for the immigrant popultion but for the global population at large. |
